The experience of Paola

From 27 to 31 March, the seminar “Youth@Work – Rural development, inclusive growth and youth work” took place in Trieste. 22 youth workers from 14 countries, including from outside Europe, participated. These were intense days in which the participants’ local situations were presented and both good practices for implementing these realities and bad practices that should be avoided when working in a rural area were exchanged.

Personally, I think that one of the most important aspects of this seminar was getting to know new realities and organisations, with the possibility of networking and already starting to design collaborations for future projects and in general a follow up of this seminar. In addition, it was very interesting for me to learn about the many programmes and calls that exist outside of Erasmus plus to write projects and create opportunities such as youth participation.

The results were taken forward by several groups who produced a report, social media content, a video with interviews and podcasts. All these materials are essential to have an even deeper impact locally, nationally and internationally. The facilitation by Angelica and Samer, together with the support of Luca, Benedetta and Catty and the contribution of each individual participant, were valuable resources that ensured the success of the seminar.

I value this experience positively as it has enriched me greatly and provided me with new points of view, ideas and new ties and contacts that I take home with me to Valle Camonica, a reality that is rich in resources but at times still somewhat closed and from which I sometimes feel detached and distant due to my international experiences.

As good practice I presented the project: “C6? Young in Vallecamonica”, an idea started from a reading of the needs of the Valle Camonica context in terms of active participation and youth aggregation. They have already organized several events, some focus groups and a tree planting. The heart of a project focused on taking care of young people’s ‘leisure’, i.e. all those activities attributable to the sphere of so-called ‘free time’ and useful, from a formative-educational point of view, as a form of social prevention. Finally I hope to be able to participate soon in other initiatives of the National Youth Agency and of the Youth@Work network which made this enriching experience possible and which I also thank on behalf of my organisation Youmore APS

Cyrpus, 1-10 April 2023

We participated in a Erasmus+ youth exchange with young people from different countries: Georgia, Greece, Lithuania, Spain and Cyprus.

Firstly, during the first days we played some getting to know each other games and did some other team building activities in order to create a safe and collaborative space for everyone.

Secondly we had the opportunity to go deep into the Social Entrepreneurship topic through non formal learning activities, such as debates, role games and acting.

Indeed, we developed some entrepreneurship project ideas in groups by exploting the social skills we explored the days before.
We understood that also in our daily life we are challenged by social issues that could make us explore out social competences and we are sure we’re gonna value this new awareness both in personal and professional growth.

Moreover, participants presented their culture to the others with typical food, dances, games, quiz etc.

It was special creating strong connections with people from different countries because it made me feel more open-minded. It felt like I was in safe place where I could be myself without the fear of being judged. ~ Anna

It was my first erasmus+ project experience and it was surprising feeling safe going outside my comfort zone. I really appreciate the fact that although the cultural differences we actually shared common values with other participants. ~ Alessandra

It’s always nice to participate in erasmus+ projects because this kind of experiences always allows me to discover new skills and personal characteristics. In particular thanks to this youth exchange I could improve some social and professional competencies that I’m sure I’ll use in my carrer. Moreover I really enjoy meeting and knowing new people from different countries in order to discover new traditions and cultures. ~Giulia

Even if it wasn’t my first project, it was amazing to discover new cultures and know other people in a deeper way rather then you meet someone in daily life. This project let me understand that probably I’ll write some projects to let people understand the way I felt. ~ Francesco

Although I am one of the youngest participant in this project I felt really comfortable and I had the opportunity to show me as I am without fears to be judged. Even if it wasn’t my first project I felt the same emotions of my first experience. ~ Alberto

Ways of Facilitation è stato un corso di sviluppo professionale tenutosi a Bansko, dal 14 al 23 agosto 2022. Il progetto ci ha fornito le basi teoriche per comprendere il compito del facilitatore e gli strumenti pratici per ricoprire tale ruolo.  

Il 14 Agosto ci siamo dati appuntamento all’aeroporto. Per alcuni di noi che avevano già condiviso l’esperienza Erasmus+ si respirava aria di casa. Nei bagagli dei nuovi, incertezza ma tanta curiosità. Di certo ognuno di noi era emozionato e non vedeva l’ora di partire.

A Bansko ci aspettavano molti ragazzi come noi, provenienti da diversi paesi d’Europa, entusiasti di intraprendere questo nuovo viaggio insieme. I nostri facilitatori Sil ed Em, tra un’attività e l’altra, non ci facevano mancare il supporto e la disponibilità.

Tra i primi energizer, il salto della fune (in contemporanea con altre 30 persone!!), una mohawk walk e delle escursioni nella natura, imparavamo a sostenerci l’un l’altro e apprendevamo i preziosi consigli dei facilitatori su come guidare il gruppo.

Non potevano mancare le nozioni teoriche che andavano a completare ciò che avevamo sperimentato nella pratica.

Abbiamo anche avuto l’opportunità di ricoprire noi stessi la figura del facilitatore durante due giornate di gita fuoriporta in montagna.

Sicuramente non è stato facile essere alla guida di un gruppo così numeroso e diversificato nei comportamenti, però è stata una grande occasione per mettersi alla prova e cercare di uscire dalla propria comfort zone.

Nonostante il progetto sia durato solo una settimana, grazie alla dedizione di tutti noi siamo riusciti a creare un gruppo basato su un forte legame di amicizia.

Siamo grati a YouMore per averci dato l’opportunità di partecipare a questo training course, è stata un’esperienza fantastica e non vediamo l’ora di ripartire!

Parti per un’avventura indimenticabile, uno scambio giovanile dall’uno al dieci Aprile.
Torniamo a Paphos, Cipro, per un progetto sui temi di imprenditorialità sociale, senso di iniziativa e spirito motivazionale. Se ha un’idea che vorresti sviluppare, magari nella realtà dove vivi, ma ti mancano competenze per metterla in pratica questa è l’occasione giusta per te!
Potrai, ad esempio, imparare come superare la paura del fallimento sviluppanto un atteggiamento positivo verso il mercato del lavoro, tutto questo in un contesto internazionale tramite la metodologia dell’educazione non formale

“To make a table you need a flower” is a youth exchange promoted by Erasmus + programme and its aim is to raise awareness about the environment and climate action. Erasmus + Programme is financed by the European Union and it gives youngsters many opportunities to learn new knowledge about different topics. During this Youth Exchange young people from Bulgaria, Spain, Italy and Macedonia met in Morfasso (Italy) in order to share opinions, ideas and good practices concerning sustainability and circular and sharing economy.

The mission of this project is based on educating, helping, and supporting people, promoting initiatives in the field of training and youth development. Its objective is to improve the quality of daily life in young people with the intention of a better future. All the activities we have done were taken from non-formal education methodologies and learning by doing.

The objectives of the project are: provide creative and innovative tools with concrete examples of sustainable daily actions to reduce environmental impact; raise awareness about the circular economy and promote your idea; strengthen youth entrepreneurship, creativity and initiative and build a new partnership. We are experiencing a climate change crisis and therefore it is essential to empower young people to act as agents of change for sustainable development.

We also got to know some concrete examples of circular economy like RETE CAUTO, which was presented by Marco. RETE CAUTO represents a group of social companies, and they define themselves as a workplace of creativity, social and environmental innovation for making, learning and sharing integrated sustainability. Thanks to Marco we learned what integrated sustainability is and that it is obtained by blending 3 dimensions: economic growth, social inclusion, protection of the environment. After this presentation Marco showed us different initiatives and good practices CAUTO does in the province of Brescia like the Reuse Island or the Community Bank.

Finally during the project we also created an attached group in which everyone felt safe and had the opportunity to share opinions without being judged. We improved our soft skills and competences and each participant will measure the impact of the project by filling the youthpass right after the project.

As Youmore we would like to thank all the participants, our amazing chef Antonietta, the international volunteers Melina, Bruno, Jorge, Silvana and Julian, the partner organizations: “Amigos de Europa” from Spain, “New sustainable generation” from Bulgaria and “World of Change” from Macedonia and all who countributed to the realization of the project, like RETE CAUTO. Special thanks to Sciara Progetti Teatro for the amazing hospitality in thir hostel located in Rabbini di Morfasso.

In Paphos, city of Cyprus, famous for sunny beaches and warm people, 31 people gathered for a youth exchange – “Bridge to the Future” to share insights into their career and professional background. Youth workers from Cyprus, Georgia, Lithuania, Hungary, Turkey and Italy arrived on 21st November and worked together to navigate the sea of careers, engaging in several activities and workshops, such as: role playing, simulations, brainstorming and social experiments.

Besides the formal sessions the participants shared their culture, presenting their songs, dances, cuisine and traditions on the intercultural evenings. During the project they have tried an amazing Italian pasta, Hungarian chocolates, Lithuanian party games and Turkish coffee. All participants let
their voice out and also learnt Cypriot songs on the street by local people. The history of Paphos was discussed with strangers, who were eager to share their knowledge with the youth.

“The best part of the whole exchange was meeting other young people that have similar struggles in the choice of a career path. We established a sense of community and mutual understanding in a phase of our lives which is surrounded by a lot of uncertainty and doubt. It is inspiring to listen to other people’s stories and perspectives and learn valuable lessons through them.”

Overall the project was successful in terms of implementing our knowledge and skills. Certainly it gave us more awareness about ourselves and our position in a social environment while gifting us unforgettable memories and magic moments. All participants have improved and stepped out of
their comfort zones. It is not always easy to do so, but the facilitation and trainer helped the youth a lot to fulfill their potential and have some personal development by the end of November. All of us gained friendships, learnt languages, got closer to our career goals and had a lot of fun. We will never forget Paphos, Cyprus.

Gli operatori giovanili al corso di formazione Erasmus plus – WIN-WIN avvenuta in Antalya, Turchia la scorso 19-26 Maggio hanno prodotto del materiale sull’ Apprendimento dei conflitti, risoluzione dei conflitti e gestione dei conflitti per operatori giovanili, animatori giovanili che lavorano con gruppi culturali diversi, giovani emarginati, giovani rifugiati e migranti, giovani delle minoranze, ecc.

I partecipanti e i formatori hanno preparato un utile E-Booklet per gli operatori giovanili sulla prevenzione dei conflitti inter-etnici tra giovani di diversa estrazione culturale, da utilizzare pubblicamente.
