Ciao a tutti, mi chiamo Federico, ho 21 anni e vengo da Brescia. Quest’anno ho preso parte ad un progetto SVE (Servizio di Volontariato Europeo) nel centro Caritas di Kaunas (Lituania) per i malati di epilessia, permettendomi quindi di lavorare e vivere all’estero, in un nuovo Paese e per un nuovo tipo di lavoro. Lavorare e vivere all’estero mi ha dato la possibilità di sfidare me stesso ogni giorno sotto ogni aspetto della vita, dalla lingua diversa (sia inglese che lituano) fino al rapporto con le persone con le quali ho vissuto e lavorato.
From 4th till 13th of November 2019, was my first experience abroad, more precisely in Lithuania, with the Youmore Morcelli Giovani from Chiari BS. In this my first training course I was able to compare myself with many people each with their own culture and with a wealth of different experiences. My travel companions, Justina and Paola, who traveled from Italy with me, were fantastic in supporting me and helping me to face this new adventure in the best possible way. Continue reading
The 13th of November 2019 we went in Lithuania for the youth exchange “Lend a hand” through the Chiari’s association “Youmore Morcelli Giovani”. We had no idea of what we would find there, of how would been living one week together with people with different lifestyles and food habits other than ours and spend most of the time confronting each other in a language different from ours. For some of us was the very first time abroad, for others it was the second european project in few months. On 25 October 2019 an all-female team (Sofia, Deborah, Irene, Alessia, Lucrezia, Michela and group leader Elisa) started an unforgettable journey to the (not-so) far country of Lithuania. Lithuania?! Wasn’t it an imaginary country? To dispel this myth, we applied to the youth exchange entitled “Stop EGO” and we can assure you that yes, Lithuania exists and it stole our hearts! Land of thick forests, numerous bodies of water and strong winds, Lithuania is a small country located in the north-east of Europe, a magic place where you can taste bright pink soups, visit towns rich in history and tradition and, if all of this still wasn’t enough, experience the true Lithuanian sauna, followed by a dip in the freezing waters of lake Lūšiai. Non tutti sanno cosa voglia dire essere un volontario, tantomeno essere un volontario internazionale. Ciò che ho deciso di raccontarvi è la mia esperienza, appena conclusa nei baltici.
Come molti ragazzi della mia età ho dei progetti e per essi, ambiziosi o meno, c’è bisogno di preparazione ed impegno. Per aiutarmi ad esaudire i miei desideri ho deciso di partire per la Lituania, nella contea di Kaunas. Continue reading

Volontariato. Che bella parola, fa subito pensare alla volontà, ovvero un sentimento che spinge milioni di persone in tutto il mondo a mettersi in gioco; c’è la volontà per queste persone di voler utilizzare il proprio tempo libero per aiutare il prossimo, c’è la volontà di abbracciare un’ esperienza che possa far maturare le proprie abilità lavorative, c’è la volontà di scoprire quanto di noi stessi conosciamo già, e quanto un percorso come questo possa in realtà capovolgere ogni nostra certezza.
